Originates in the writings of self-described contactees or channelled sessions.
Rooted in myth, religious tradition or regional legend, sometimes reinterpreted by modern writers.
Proposed as a possibility in speculative or exobiological writing rather than reported as encountered.
Created for novels, film, games or other fiction and later absorbed into wider lore.
Refers to a real star, cluster or system. The astronomy is real; the association with a race is not.
